We’re proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, our skilled nursing facility, The Woodlands, has earned a deficiency-free survey from the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL).
The unannounced inspection spanned four days, with a team of five state inspectors thoroughly reviewing records, interviewing staff and residents, and observing care in action. At the conclusion of the survey, no concerns were cited.
Surveyors praised The Woodlands team for error-free medication passes and procedures, excellent infection control practices, and attentive care. They also noted that residents and family members they spoke with were happy and consistently positive in their feedback.
Staffing levels, training, and overall preparedness were also highlighted as strengths. One surveyor remarked on the impressive level of organization and the ease of access to all requested documentation.
“This recognition two years in a row is a testament to the consistency, professionalism, and heart our staff brings to their work every day,” said Kathy Horan, Chief Executive Officer of Meth-Wick Community.
“It’s especially meaningful to hear firsthand from surveyors that our residents feel cared for and supported, and that our team’s attention to detail stands out at every level.”
State surveys are conducted annually to ensure nursing homes meet rigorous health and safety standards. A deficiency-free rating is a rare achievement that reflects the highest standard of care.
“The Woodlands team continues to set the bar for excellence,” Horan added. “We’re proud to provide a place where older adults receive not only expert care, but also the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve.”
