Weâre honored to announce our nursing facility, The Woodlands, was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Nursing Home for 2024âa status earned by only 19% of skilled nursing facilities nationwide.
Meth-Wick earned its Best Nursing Home status by achieving a rating of âHigh Performing,â the highest possible rating, for Long-Term Care. U.S. News awards the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those that satisfy U.S. Newsâ assessment of consistent performance in objective quality measures.
Meth-Wick President and CEO Robin Mixdorf said the award is an affirmation of Meth-Wickâs philosophy of person-centered care (PCC).
âOur dedication to quality care and staffing puts the resident at the heart of everything we do,â said Mixdorf.
âThe collaborative efforts of the staff, residents, and their families foster an environment where each resident can embrace and live their best life; as we like to say, âLife As It Should Be.ââ
For the 2024 Best Nursing Homes edition, U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes on residentsâ outcomes — such as infection rates, staffing levels, health inspection results, and other indicators of quality.
âU.S. Newsâ Best Nursing Homes ratings give patients, senior residents, their families and caregivers an objective assessment of quality, to help them choose the facility that best fits their individual needs,â said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. âNursing homes that have earned the recognition of U.S. News have a track record of achieving better outcomes for patients and residents, and maximizing the amount of care they receive from nurses and other staff.â
Meth-Wickâs PCC model was also highlighted last year at the Pioneering a New Culture of Aging Conference in Colorado, where staff members presented âItâs a Beautiful Day in the NeighborhoodâThe Woodlands: An Interdisciplinary Team Approach.â It was chosen by the Pioneer Network after a rigorous selection process. It highlighted Meth-Wick Communityâs transition to the PCC model, the organizational structure that focuses on the resident, and tools like Learning Circles that help facilitate the culture change.
The Woodlands opened on Meth-Wickâs campus in 2000 and is uniquely designed to resemble three neighborhoods. Each neighborhood functions independently and includes a full-sized kitchen, living room, den and sunroom. There are 66 private resident rooms, including seven specialty bariatric suites. It is staffed around the clock by professional nursing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants.
